Position Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Burnett Insurance Corporation!
We are looking for an experienced Account Manager whose overall primary job is to provide superior customer service to existing customers, attract potential customers, maintain customer records, resolve service problems and contribute to the team effort. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, detail and results oriented, has excellent communication and problem solving skills, as well as a strong work ethic. This individual will have a strong understanding of commercial Property and Casualty lines of coverage.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assists clients with making coverage changes and invoices accordingly; uses each contact with the client as an opportunity to review the whole account, cross-sell and market additional lines of coverage.
- Informs and educates clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusions, and insurance coverage needs.
- Suspense all transactions in TAM, producing comprehensive documentation, and timely follows-up on outstanding items; adheres to written procedures.
- Records all phone calls from companies and insureds in TAM activity(ies), producing comprehensive documentation.
- Provides technical support to producer(s) to benefit clients and to reach agency’s strategic business goals.
- Completes applications; may submit applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtains client signatures on all applications; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
- Prepares proposals for presentation to client.
- Orders and issues binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and other related items; verifies their accuracy; forwards them to the client with appropriate correspondence.
- Invoices all premium transactions, including direct billing, agency billing and premium finance items.
- Actively seeks referrals from client base; follows up to generate new business.
- Prepares summaries of insurance and schedules as needed.
- Contacts clients, creates renewal proposals, and handles other renewal activities in coordination with the producer(s).
- Renews policies following agency procedures and standards; verifies each renewal’s accuracy; ensures that all renewals are produced using expiration reports.
- Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.
- Maintains and updates all electronic and transactional records in the computer system(s).
- Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.
- Processes incoming mail and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
- Verifies accuracy of all direct billed cancellations and takes appropriate corrective action when needed.
- Uses agency “collection policy” in pursuing prompt payments, requests cancellations from the carrier according to agency standards; creates receivable recaps as needed.
- Determines reasons for requests for cancellations; acts to save accounts; notifies producer(s) according to agency standards.
- Processes and follows-up on cancellation requests to carriers to ensure accurate and timely resolution; maintains agency’s financial equity whenever possible.
- Identifies exposure to loss and recommends appropriate coverages in coordination with producer(s).
- Prepares premium allocations for clients as needed.
- Actively solicits increases in coverage and rounds out accounts through sales to clients; leaves good documentation of all contacts.
- Assists or completes other tasks as directed by agency management.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Trucking / Transportation Insurance Experience strongly preferred
- General knowledge of Trucking / Transportation Coverages strongly preferred
- General knowledge of Commercial Coverages required
- Proficient computer skills in various programs is required, including, but not limited to the following:
- The Agency Manager (TAM) experience a plus
- PaperWise experience a plus
- Microsoft Office knowledge and skills required, including the following:
- MS Outlook (Mail, Contacts, Calendars)
- MS Excel (Formulas, Formatting, Filters)
- MS Word (Formatting, Tables)
- General knowledge of Windows XP operating system and file hierarchies required
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required
- Ability to invariably perform repetitive tasks with speed and accuracy
- Good interpersonal skills required
- Ability to deliver superior customer service. Use customer oriented telephone etiquette to gather information. Is courteous, projects professional tone and records statistics on each call.
- Listens attentively. Analyzes and prioritizes information, separates key issues and generates solutions.
- Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving and math skills
- Can explain product features and benefits to customers confidently
- Capable of producing comprehensive documentation
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- College degree preferred, but not required
- Two plus years in an office environment required
- Current AR Property & Casualty insurance license required
